Youth Hockey Coaching at Harleston Magpies

At the clubhouse and grounds in the heart of the Waveney Valley at Shotford Heath, Weybread – just outside Harleston, IP21 5UF - you will find some of the best hockey facilities in the East of England. However don't be fooled by our rural location - we aim to punch above our weight! Last season our successes included: U18 boys and girls reaching the National semi finals; U14 boys and girls going one better and reaching the finals weekend; U12 girls reaching their National finals and Magpies Girls U10s being crowned East champions for the 3rd successive year.

However, you will be no doubt be pleased to hear that hockey starts much more locally with regular coaching at our grounds and local competitions. This season our U8s will have the opportunity to take part in a number of Quicksticks competitions on Friday evenings at Magpies. At U10 & U12 age group level Into Hockey tournaments are played on Sundays in Norfolk and Suffolk, approximately one tournament a month between September and April. Then finally once your child has outgrown these age groups they progress into Development teams who play weekly matches on Saturdays before making their debuts into senor league teams.

A band of volunteers, parents and club members coordinate Harleston Magpies approach to Youth Hockey. We have in place a dedicated group of coaches leading our weekly coaching sessions, a team of assistant coaches, an army of team managers and a willing band of parents to ensure there is a program of matches, taster sessions, holiday hockey camps and of course the annual Santa vs Elves Christmas special this year to also include Mrs Claus and her reindeer!

New players are always welcome, whatever their experience. Coaching commences in September and runs through to April on the following evenings:
